On the occasion of the 47th Foundation Day of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari revisited the party’s origins, shedding light on the ideological discussions and leadership that shaped its foundation decades ago.

Addressing party workers and leaders in Nagpur, Gadkari recalled the early days of the BJP, stating that the party was established around forty years ago through a collective effort of leaders committed to a shared vision for the nation. “Forty years ago, the Bharatiya Janata Party was founded in the presence of Ram Jethmalani and Shanti Bhushan,” he said, referencing the involvement of prominent legal and political figures such as Ram Jethmalani and Shanti Bhushan.

He highlighted that the formation of the party was not merely a political event but a significant intellectual and ideological exercise. According to Gadkari, leaders from nearly 20 regions across the country had come together, engaging in detailed discussions on the party’s guiding principles, its long-term vision, and its constitutional framework.

The Union Minister emphasized that these foundational deliberations played a crucial role in shaping the BJP’s identity as a party rooted in ideology and national commitment. The discussions, he noted, were centered on defining a clear direction for governance, public service, and nation-building.

Gadkari’s remarks come as BJP leaders across the country marked the Foundation Day by reflecting on the party’s journey from its inception in 1980 to its current stature as a dominant force in Indian politics. From a modest beginning, the party has grown into a nationwide organization with a strong grassroots presence and significant electoral influence.

His recollection of the founding moment served as a reminder of the intellectual depth and collective vision that laid the groundwork for the BJP’s expansion over the decades. It also underscored the importance of ideological clarity and unity in sustaining the party’s growth.

As celebrations continued, such reflections reinforced the narrative that the BJP’s rise has been built not only on electoral success but also on a strong foundation of ideas, leadership, and organizational discipline.
