NAGPUR, MAHARASHTRA — Maharashtra Cabinet Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule highlighted key developments related to women’s empowerment and cultural initiatives, describing the Women’s Reservation Bill as a landmark step while also announcing a new tourism circuit dedicated to B R Ambedkar.

Speaking in Nagpur, Bawankule said that the Women’s Reservation Bill represents a historic moment in India’s journey toward becoming a developed nation, emphasizing that increased political representation for women reflects a strong democratic commitment. He noted that the provision for reservation in Parliament and state assemblies will help ensure greater participation of women in decision-making processes.

He further stated that empowering women politically is essential for inclusive growth, as it enables diverse perspectives to be represented at the highest levels of governance. According to him, such reforms are crucial for strengthening democratic institutions and promoting balanced development.

On the occasion of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar’s birth anniversary, Bawankule also announced a significant initiative by the state’s tourism department. He said that a dedicated tourism circuit has been launched in Ambedkar’s name, aimed at connecting important locations associated with his life and legacy across Maharashtra.

As part of the initiative, two buses were flagged off from Nagpur to promote awareness and engagement among citizens. Bawankule encouraged people to go beyond traditional tourism, stating that visitors should use such journeys as an opportunity to deepen their understanding of Ambedkar’s thoughts, values, and contributions to society.

The initiative is expected to attract students, researchers, and citizens interested in learning more about Ambedkar’s role in shaping India’s social and constitutional framework. By linking tourism with education and awareness, the program aims to create a more meaningful and reflective travel experience.

Bawankule emphasized that Ambedkar’s ideals of equality, justice, and social reform remain highly relevant today, and initiatives like this help in keeping his legacy alive among future generations.

The twin focus on women’s empowerment and cultural awareness reflects the state government’s broader approach to development, combining policy reforms with initiatives that promote historical understanding and social progress.
